ACP and Emap are Chicane Marketing's biggest clients. The six showbags Emily and Brendan produce are based around some of the publishers' most popular titles, including ACP's Dolly and Emap's Smash Hits!, FHM and New Woman. There's also The Dirt Bike showbag and The Surfer's showbag.
Emily and Brendan are able to source other clients willing to provide product samples for the bags, such as cosmetics, haircare products, confectionary, drinks and food items, because the arrangement is mutually beneficial.
"They're able to get their brand associated with one of Australia's top magazines when it would normally cost them between $10,000 and $30,000 to advertise in one of those magazines. [Now] all it's costing them is the samples," says Emily.
Emily and Brendan also source and buy value-add products for each of the bags.
"For example, a lipstick," says Emily. "The consumer knows they're likely to pay somewhere around $20 for that in the shops and can buy it among other things in a showbag for less than this."
As a further incentive for clients, Chicane Marketing also offers market research through a survey in each of the showbags.
